Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.

Original Articles

Original Article should normally report original research of relevance to clinical medicine. A manuscript will be considered in the original article category if it is a Randomised Controlled Trial (RCT) or an Observational Study. RCT should be registered with International RCT Registry (Trial Registration Number mandatory). Moreover, Retro-spective Studies with adequate sample size supported by appropriate advance statistical analysis may also be considered in this category.

Authors should clearly state in the manuscript under separate heading the name of the approval committee, highlighting that legal and ethical approvals were obtained prior to initiation of the research work carried out on subject, and that the experiments were performed in accordance with the relevant guidelines and regulation. Also, it is mandatory to provide the institutional ethical review board/committee approval/exemption for all research articles, at the time of submission of article. Dissertation/ thesis approval letter from relevant authority is also acceptable.

The original paper should be of about 2000-2500 words excluding abstract and references. It should contain a structured abstract of about 250 words. Three to 10 keywords should be given for an original article as per MeSH (Medical Subject Headings). There should be no more than three tables or illustrations. The data should be supported with 20 to 25 references, which should include local as well as international references. More than 50% of the references should be from last five years from the date of submission.

Systematic Review Articles

Systematic review should consist of critical overview/ analysis of some relatively narrow topic providing background and the recent development with the reference of original literature. It should incorporate author's original work on the same subject. The length of the review article should be of 2500 to 3000 words. It should have non-structured abstract of 150 words with minimum of 3 key words. An author can write a review article only if he/she has written a minimum of three original research articles and some case reports on the same topic.

Meta-Analysis

Meta-Analysis is a statistical process of analyzing and combining results from several similar studies. Taking into account any inconsistencies or discrepancies.

The length of the Meta Analysis article should be of 2500 to 3000 words. It should have a non-structured abstract of 150 words with minimum of 3 key words. An author can write a review article only if he/she has written a minimum of three original research articles and some case reports on the same topic.

Case Reports

This section publishes case reports describing rare, novel, or clinically significant cases in critical care and infectious diseases. Submissions should provide clear clinical insights, diagnostic or therapeutic challenges, and relevant learning points.  Case reports should have a maximum of four authors. The word count should be 800 words with a minimum of 3 keywords. It should have a non-structured abstract of about 100 - 150 words (case specific) with a maximum of 5 - 6 references. Not more than 2 figures and one table shall be accepted.All submissions undergo peer review.

Evidence-Based Reports

Evidence Based Reports must have at least 10 cases. The length of EBR should be around 1000 - 1200 words with 10 - 12 references and not more than 2 tables or illustrations. It should contain a non-structured abstract of about 150 words. In the main text, there should be the following main headings: Introduction, Methodology, Result, Discussion, Conclusion and Declarations.

Clinical Audit

Clinical Audit is a specific activity that measures clinical care against explicit audit criteria (gold standard) as part of a quality improvement.

An audit has three cycles; an initial evaluation with identification of a certain problem or issue, measures implemented for rectification, and then re-evaluation of the same as in the first step.

The length of CA should be around 1500 - 1600 words with 15 - 20 references. The rest of the format should be that of an original article.

Short Communications

Short Communications is a brief manuscript representing a significant contribution to the field that may not be suitable for a full research article.

Length should be of about 1000 - 1200 words, having a non-structured abstract of about 150 words with two tables or illustrations and not more than 6 references.
